Commonly Asked Questions

Will the sealant make my pavers look new?

The first thing to understand is that paver sealing will restore the color to pavers, but it is limited by the condition of the pavers themselves. This is why it is important to seal the pavers while they are in great condition. Paver sealer locks and improves upon the condition of the pavers the moment they are sealed.

How long will the sealer last?

The sealer we use at Pulse Pressure Washing lasts for up to 5 years, but we recommend getting it resealed every 2 and a half years to maintain the most desirable look.

What are the benefits of resanding my pavers before sealing?

The sand in between the paver joints prevents the pavers from shifting and becoming uneven. The process of resanding refills any sand that may have been washed out over time. Additionally, the paver sealer locks in and hardens the sand while preventing it from washing away.

Will it make my pavers look shiny?

The answer to this question depends on your preference. At Pulse Pressure Washing, we offer a range of options from the shiny “wet look” sealer to a more non-shiny protective and restorative coat we call the “basic look.”

What type of sealer is best for the Florida weather?

There are two main types of paver sealers: water-based and solvent-based. The difference between the two is the base that evaporates for the sealer to harden. In a water-based sealer, as the water evaporates, the particles of the sealer are forced to move closer together and harden. The same process is true for the solvent-based but with the solvent evaporating instead of water.

At Pulse Pressure Washing, we advocate for water-based sealer for several reasons. Firstly, it dries and becomes water-resistant much quicker than solvent-based. Solvent-based typically requires around 24 hours without rain, whereas the water-based sealer we use becomes water-resistant in as little as one hour. Secondly, solvent-based sealers release what are called VOCs (volatile organic compounds) when drying, which can be harmful to breathe as well as detrimental to surrounding vegetation and the environment. Water-based, on the other hand, simply evaporates water as mentioned above. Finally, solvent-based must be applied to a perfectly dry surface and allow no moisture to accumulate underneath the sealer for it to remain flawless. Water-based sealer can be applied to a damp surface and allows for moisture to be present. Solvent based,  on the other hand, creates what is called a “hazing effect” if any moisture finds its way under your pavers.

At Pulse Pressure Washing, we offer same day quotes on paver sealing that are based on square footage. We use high quality water based sealers that are manufactured in and made for the Florida environment. We are an Ave Maria located company and would love to preserve and enhance the properties in our community by enhancing the look of their pavers.
